How to Write Daily Affirmations in 4 Easy Steps

Learn how to write and use daily affirmations that will empower your life.

Affirmations are powerful tools for transformation. The repetitive reinforcement of short focused phrases has amazing power that taps into the energy of your subconscious mind and has the ability to change your whole life.

By reinforcing positive beliefs through affirmations your negative attitudes can be reprogrammed allowing your life to become rich, full and happy.

Your subconscious is more than willing to accept as truth any information you feed it because it can’t determine truth from lies, it only believes what you believe to be true even if that truth is warped. By replacing negative beliefs with positive beliefs your subconscious will eventually come to support the positive and as a result your life will dramatically change direction for the better. Science even backs up the use of affirmations.

If you’d like to see changes in your life, follow these simple rules in order to make daily affirmations work for you.

Understanding Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements that when repeated over and over, reinforce the message and impress it into your subconscious.

It’s important to note that affirmations only work for your own good, and they have no affect when used for evil or mischievous purposes or to try and change someone else’s behavior.

It’s also important to note that affirmations only have power when they have a visual or an emotional connection. Repeating a series of words over and over again will have little effect, but once the phrase is visually and/or emotionally charged only then will it have the power to change your life.

How to Write Daily Affirmations

Creating daily affirmations is not difficult but there are a few guidelines to remember.

1. Use the present tense

Believe that whatever you desire is already yours.

For example:
“I have …” instead of “I want to have …”
I have the ability to earn a lot of money.
I have the ability to provide for my family
“I am …” instead of “I will be …”
I am abundant.
I am grateful for everything I have.

2. Keep it short and focused and positive

Focus on what you want and keep it short and simple. A short affirmation gets right to the point and is easy to remember.

For example:
“I accept myself just as I am.”

3. Include only positive words and exclude negative.

Focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want.

For example:
“I now have a loving, conflict-free relationship” is a positive statement.
“I don’t want a relationship that has conflict” is a negative statement.

4. Use your own words

Words have more power when they come from your heart and soul and resonate with you so choose words that you would normally use and feel comfortable with.

Using Affirmations

When starting out with affirmations it’s normal to want to fix all areas of your life at once but using too many affirmations in the beginning will only tend to confuse.

To begin with, select a few areas of your life that you need to work on and choose one appropriate daily affirmation. Once results begin to appear in those areas of your life, select another area that needs some work and introduce a new daily affirmation. And so on.

Affirmations should be used like a mantra and repeated consistently in order to have any effect. The more often you repeat your affirmations, the better they will work.

Watch for signs and take action when necessary. For instance if you’re trying to manifest a new job you still need to search the job listings; your job seeking affirmation is unlikely to bring an employer to your door. What your job seeking affirmation will do is draw to you the type of job vacancy you are seeking.

Keep a Daily Affirmation Journal

An easy way to use affirmations every day is to write them down in your journal. You can write one down each morning before you start journaling as your topic of focus for that day, or come up with a few different affirmations that apply to what you are trying to manifest.
