What Are Junk Journal Cluster Embellishments?
A cluster is essentially a small arrangement of layered paper elements that are combined to create a decorative embellishment. You might layer a piece of vintage clipart with a scrap of patterned paper, a label, a tag, a postcard or a decorative frame. Add some stitching, lace, washi tape, buttons or other embellishments, and you have a dimensional piece that can be added to a junk journal page.

One of my favourite things about making clusters is that a simple collection of printable pieces can be transformed into something that looks much more elaborate.
Start with a tag, card, frame or postcard as your base. Then choose a few pieces of clipart that complement one another and begin layering them. The possibilities are almost endless.
You don’t need to use lots of elements either. Sometimes two or three carefully chosen pieces are all you need to create a beautiful embellishment.

Printable Tags
Create decorative junk journal tags by layering clipart, labels and other paper pieces onto the printable tags. Add a hole at the top and finish with some ribbon, lace or thread.
Tags can be tucked into pockets, attached to journal pages or simply used as decorative elements.
Printable Cards
The cards make wonderful foundations for larger clusters. Layer several pieces of clipart onto the card, add some texture and embellishments, and you have a beautiful journaling or decorative card.
They can also be used as tuck-ins, pocket pieces or journaling cards.
Printable Frames
Frames are particularly versatile for junk journal projects. Add a vintage image behind the frame and then build layers around it using the clipart.
